Mossi Cloth 003
This cloth is made by the Mossi people from central Burkina Faso, West Africa. The Mossi people, who constitute up to 40% of Burkina Faso's population, have been cultivating cotton for more than 1000 years. In rural villages elderly women spin the cotton, after which the men, using a narrow loom, weave thin long strips which are sewn selvedge to selvedge. Made as part of a co-operative that supports the preservation of traditional textiles throughout West Africa. Each strip is threaded with a woven motif, detailed with unique pattern or animal design. Perfect at the end of a bed or over a couch.
Featuring a fringe detail at both ends where each pattern is always unique.
Measures approx 210cm x 155cm.
