Ugqoko Platter (Double) 001

An antique platter, from the Zulu People of South Africa.  Hand-carved from a single piece of dense hard wood. They hold an important ritual role as they were reserved for serving meat only, designed to be both decorative and functional. The 'Ugqoko' style often consists of two bowls linked by a centre beam, featuring unique shapes, sometimes handles or decorative carving underneath, where each one is unique.
