Xhosa Reed Stool

$850.00

An hour-glass shaped stool handwoven by the Xhosa women in the eastern cape of South Africa. These stools are built with a hard wire frame for structure and then covered with woven river reed, native to the area. Their free-form shade makes each one unique with sculptural like qualities.

The Xhosa women who weave this collection of beautiful baskets work as part of a community project - providing them with employment and continuing to empower the skill of basket weaving in their local township.

Xhosa Reed Stool measures approximately 48cm tall and 34cm wide at top and base.

(Give or take a few centimetres as each one is unique).
