Dinka Head Rest

This simple antique headrest is hand-carved from a single hardwood block by the Dinka Lotuku in South Sudan, using traditional tools and indigenous trees. The Dinka people are nomadic farmers and herders are known for crafting small and easy to carry objects. Traditionally used as a headrest, this beautiful object is also often used by the elders in the community as a stool as well. The wood has taken on a beautiful patina with natural imperfections.
