An antique Kente Cloth from the Ewe (pronounced "Ev-ay") people of South-East Ghana. Finely woven on a narrow-strip loom, sewn selvedge to selvedge from a mix of cotton and silk with distinct weft motifs and bold colour, this is a traditional ceremonial cloth worn by a man. With a deep and interesting history, the Kente Cloth, is one of the most well-known of African textiles. This piece, circa 1940's, is in good condition.
