Detail of Interior: Finn Juhl's House

For our Detail of Interior series we focus on capturing the essence, the objects, the light and the quiet moments of homes designed to be inhabited. We look to the beauty of the collection, the unfamiliar and the treasured.

In this entry, we take a look inside the home of Danish furniture designer and architect Finn Juhl. Completed in 1942 in Ordrup, the house is considered one of Denmark’s most accomplished functionalist residences: a place where architecture, design and art exist in considered harmony. Juhl’s sculptural yet practical furniture fills the space, alongside works by leading Danish artists of the era, creating a home that has never needed to change — one he envisioned as a total work of art.

"One cannot create happiness with beautiful objects, but one can ruin quite a lot of happiness with bad ones." Finn Juhl
