Xhosa Reed Basket - Check Detail


These beautiful, organically shaped baskets are handwoven by the Xhosa women in the eastern cape of South Africa. Made from river reed native to the area, baskets of this shape and style are traditionally used for collecting grains and other crops.  Their free form shape makes each basket unique with sculptural like qualities, this particular piece is woven with a fine black & white recycled plastic detail for a less traditional look.

Measures approx 40cm across top, 18cm across base x 36cm high.
