'Packed Like Sardines' (PLS) Paper Collection
A collection of papier-mâché bowls and bins made from sardine can labels where each fish has been meticulously cut out and layered to form a repetitive pattern.
Handcrafted by a group of women as part of the fair trade project Wola Nani. The project has been supporting women who suffer from HIV and AIDS from some of the poorest communities in South Africa since 1994 – they strive to ensure that these women can have a sustainable future, earn a regular income and live with dignity and hope. The purchase of every product made at Wola Nani directly supports the lives of these talented crafters.
Each piece in the collection is carefully made by hand with layers and layers of paper, imperfections do occur and each one is slightly unique. They can be wiped with a damp cloth and cannot be emerged in water.
Available in 4 varying sizes of bowls and a cylindric bin.
