Ndebele Gourd #2
This gourd shaped basket is handwoven using traditional methods by the Ndebele people of Zimbabwe and Botswana. It is a tightly woven basket, made from coiled palm fibre always with a simple detail or motif that would traditionally be used for carrying grain or herbs. Although the Ndebele people are known for their colourful and geometric dress their bowls and vessels are more often very simple and neutral. It's their simple shape and subtle detail that makes this piece both ornamental or useful in any room.
Measures 11cm wide at top x 14cm wide at base x 28cm high.
