Carter's Cookbook
Carter Were started cooking ten years ago and never thought she would be writing a cookbook. She started experimenting with sprouted bread when working at a bakery in Sydney. When moving back to Auckland, her friend, and florist, Sophie, invited her to share the lease on a retail space. They opened their shop in 2015 and Carter sold her bread, toast, cookies and coffee. After two years they outgrew the space and both ended up living back in Australia.
'I've wanted to write a cookbook since we closed the shop and to work on something with my twin sister, Harry, who is a photographer. Rather than photos only of the final dish, Harry has chosen to shoot the process too. She shot this on film, using natural light. We worked on the book whenever we were together - in Australia and New Zealand, in our homes and with our friends.'
