Aso Oke Cloth #3


This cloth is made by a Yoruba strip-weaver of Nigeria. Woven from cotton on a narrow-frame loom, they are made up of long strips and sewn selvedge to selvedge. Each strip is threaded with a red silk weft motif and  detailed with a lace weave.  ‘Aso Oke’ cloth is worn by both men and women throughout south-west Nigeria on special occasions like weddings, festivals and other religious ceremonies, and such cloth is considered highly fashionable.

Please note this is a vintage item so imperfection and markings do occur.

Measures 1.5 metres wide x 3.8 metres long.
