'Agaseke' is a traditional Rwandan Basket and they play an important role in Rwandan culture. Such baskets have been woven for everyday use for generations and generations but more recently have become a symbol of peace in the country after the genocide ended in 1994. The iconic "peace baskets" come in a range of different sizes, colours and textures but always feature the zigzag pattern which resembles two women holding hands - they are a symbol of reconciliation, unity and hope in Rwanda. 

These particular Agaseke Baskets are very finely woven, made from grasses with black detail they are light in weight due to their size and fine weave, a more delicate baskets of its kind.   

Measures approx 7cm wide x 18.5cm high.
