Laguna~B 'Goto' Black Tumbler

$380.00

Based in Venice, Italy - Laguna~B was founded in 1994 by Marie Brandolini when she reinterpreted the Goto de fornace. Ancient old glassmaking techniques are combined with contemporary design and sustainability as the company continues to create timeless and collectable glassware while leading the way for Murano's craft and culture.

The ‘goti de fornasa’ - “drinking glasses of the furnace” were originally created by the glass-masters using left over glass scraps at the end of production each day; some were beautiful and others not - however the design did not matter as they were not intended to be sold but rather to be used as their beer glass at break time.

Appreciating the beauty of this informal process, Laguna~B’s founder Marie went on to adapt this idea and create a series of tumblers using the same techniques in a more considered way. Leftover murrine and glass sticks are thrown and overlayed, and it is not simple to master — it is difficult to structure the glass with these techniques as all the components in the mass cause tension. The result is a charming, one-of-a-kind glass tumbler.

This collection showcased a completely unique reinterpretation of traditional Murano drinkware.

Composed of melted glass sticks.
